Swansea Park was
put-in May of 2005, as a Mothers Day present for my wife and selfishly a proving grounds for my work. My goal was to create relaxing
"city garden", a small space that turns the chaotic into tranquil and combine all elements of my design
philosophy. It must be easy to maintain, have something in bloom or be interesting to look at year round, have beautiful
scents and running water and combine hardscapes with sculpture and plants - it must be inviting to the natural world.
I love to use Ornamental Grass and
Perennnials in areas that receive snow loads from Driveways and walkways and/or lots of fallen leaves. This way damage to
the plant is minimal, they also tend to be hardy and put on a great show of color. Mixing in Trees and Bushes along with other
Hardscape elements help prevent a barren Spring time landscape before the Grass and Perennials emerge.
To ensure a successful landscape
the design must incorporate proper plant placement, varied heights, textures, colors and scents. Add architectual elements
to help define spaces and blend the natural world with the manmade. A must-have, and the icing-on-the-cake in any landscape
is a water feature. Big or small does not matter, just as long as it has movement. Splashing water is a fantastic way to drown
out the urban noise pollution, and it attracts wildlife.
