The fun thing about this project was just how many elements I crammed
into a small space. The retaining wall has a recessed portion for an ornamental grass, the fence is split-up by a
Sky Rocket Juniper. White lattice was installed below the porch, a new wrought iron railing and maibox post was added. A red
brick walkway in a herringbone pattern was installed. I even left room to put snow next to the driveway (most people would
have ran the retaining wall right up to the driveway, making it difficult to plow) and also used perennials where snow would
be deposited.
The variety of plantings provide year-round interest of color, texture,
smell. Maintenance is relatively easy because if its not a perennial, than the variety used was either a dwarf or just that
it was planted within its mature size limit.
