I added some rock to make the stream seem more natural, plus added Juncus Spirales & Forget-Me-Knots

Green Mountain Landscape was brought in to finish a job that was actually never finished by a previous "landscaper." The retaining wall block had been sitting in the corner of the yard for a couple of years, and the homeowners attempted to complete the job themselves, building a low wall along one side of the yard, but after another summer had past decided to try out another landscaper.

The plan was hide the chain-link fence and views beond, use up the existing block and create a patio with a water feature. Fencing is the 1st choice for hiding views, but wood requires maintenance and vinyl gets pricey, so I presented the idea of a low burm planted with ornimental grass and for color mix in Black-Eyed Susan and Day Lilly's.

The burm was completed 2004, but the wall and patio were put on hold till a design for the water feature could be agreed upon. The Pondless Waterfall ended up being installed by another landscaper and an electric line was run to power it and some future landscape lighting.

2005 and the burm is growing in very well, and the person who put in the Waterfall used large slate for each of the falls, and covered the whole thing in small boulders and pebbles. To help make it seem more natural I pulled these elements out into the yard creating the Slate and Pebble patio. Enclosing this with the existing retaining wall block.

It's absolutly amazing what moving some rocks around the waterfalls can do, not only is the sound better but it looks much more realistic. Of course adding the Juncus Spirales and Water Forget-Me-Nots help to soften the boulder edges. The gravel patio will soon be hidden away by a carpet of White Striped Dwarf Bamboo and more Stella D'Ora Day Lillys. The electric pole servicing the waterfall now finds itself hidden from view by a rush of Purple Cone Flower. With the addition of a Cafe Bistro table and chairs and some well placed landscape lighting, this corner of the yard can hold its own against the massive flowing wall of grasses.
